Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Unveils New Pictures Of His Planned Neom Megacity

Today we are looking to Saudi Arabia, where the Crown Prince there has unveiled new pictures of his planned Neom Megacity.

Neom Megacity - Trillions Dollar Project

Rula Mohammed Bin Suleman has declared that the trillion dollar futuristic Megacity will be a vacation paradise and a global hub for technology and innovation. Situated in a desert in the arid northwest of Saudi Arabia, pictures of Neom have been released in hopes that the Megacity will draw 100 million tourists each year.

Sindalah Island: Will Open to Visitors from 2024

Until 2019, Saudi Arabia was essentially closed to other visitors outside of Muslims making the pilgrimage to Mecca each year.

But this has since changed under Crown Prince Mohammed's vision and according to Neom's plans, Saudi Arabia is attempting to move away from its reliance on fossil fuels. The first stage of Neom scheduled to be completed is the Island Sindalah, a haven, with officials claiming it will be open to visitors from 2024.

Meanwhile, the Megacity is attracting attention from human rights activists as the UN reported in May that Saudi Arabian officials evicted tribes from areas assigned to the Neom project, with three men being sentenced to death after refusing eviction and one man killed by Saudi Special Forces.

We will have to wait to see if the scale and vision of the Neom Megacity will indeed be!
